New to fencing? Start here

If you are a beginner, we invite you to start with one of the following options:

  • A free private introductory lesson, or
  • One of our Introductory Plans – Introductory V or Introductory X, available at a special discounted rate for new members.

These introductory programs run over 3–4 weeks and are designed to safely and effectively introduce you to fencing fundamentals, equipment, and training structure.

During your Introductory Class, you may consult with your coach about:

  • Adding group training
  • Joining our Saturday clinics
  • Transitioning into regular group practices

Important benefit:
Throughout your entire Introductory Class period, you receive a FREE club membership, giving you access to the club environment and additional training opportunities while you decide on your next steps.

This approach ensures proper placement, skill development, and the best possible training experience from day one.

Joining the club begins with a short registration form.
This first step allows us to understand the athlete’s age, experience level, goals, and availability, so we can properly match each member with the right training group and schedule.

By providing this information, you help us ensure a safe, structured, and effective training environment — one where athletes progress at the right pace and train alongside others at a similar level.

USA Fencing Membership Requirements

To represent K-MFA and participate in sanctioned tournaments, all fencers must maintain an active membership with USA Fencing. This is a mandatory requirement for insurance purposes, club representation, and competition eligibility.

  1. For Club Representation: You must list K-MFA as your Primary Club in your USA Fencing member profile. This ensures you are officially associated with us during events.

  2. For Competition:
Access Membership: Required for local club tournaments and unsanctioned events.
Competitive Membership: Required for all Regional (RYC, RJCC, ROC) and National (NAC) sanctioned tournaments.

  3. Membership Year: The fencing season runs from August 1st to July 31st. Memberships must be renewed annually to remain in good standing.

Please visit member.usafencing.org to register or renew your membership. If you are unsure which membership level is right for you, please consult with your coach.
